    Executive summary

    Snap-on Q2 FY26 — Strong Performance Amidst Turbulence

Snap-on delivered a strong second quarter, achieving record sales and significant organic growth in its Commercial & Industrial segment, despite a turbulent global environment marked by geopolitical conflicts and supply chain challenges. The company's pivot to quicker payback items and new product introductions drove performance, particularly in power tools and torque wrenches. While some segments faced margin pressures due to mix shifts and investments, management remains confident in its market resilience and strategic advantages.

    C&I Organic Sales Growth

    next quarter
    Current11%
    TargetContinued double-digit growth

    Why it matters

C&I is a key growth driver, demonstrating successful expansion outside the garage. Sustained high growth confirms thesis.

C&I on a trend, demonstrating that opportunities and rolling the Snap-on brand out of the garage are substantial, as we've always said, a bit worse.

    Q&A highlights

    8

What drove the 260 basis point gross margin improvement in C&I, specifically regarding mix versus other factors?

The improvement was not primarily mix-driven, as the highest profitability industrial business grew below average. Instead, it was due to new product introductions (power tools, torque) and recovery in Asia Pacific and Europe leading to better absorption. In-sourcing efforts also contributed.

Not so much, not so much. I mean, the thing is the tools, the highest profitability business which is the critical industry's industrial business was the business that grew mid-single digits. So grew below the average. And so that's far and away the most profitable. What happened in, you had movements upwards in a lot of those businesses because they brought -- a couple of them brought out great new product, particularly power tools and torque.

    Detailed Narrative

    01

    Market Resilience and Strategic Advantages

Snap-on's markets, particularly vehicle repair and critical industries, demonstrated strong resilience despite global turbulence. The company leverages its decisive advantages in product innovation, brand recognition, and skilled personnel to navigate challenges. Management highlighted the aging car park, increasing vehicle complexity, and growing demand for precision in critical industries as enduring positive trends supporting its business.

    02

    Product Innovation Driving Growth

New product introductions were a significant driver of performance. Examples include the NanoAxcess power tool, a 7-piece drive socket set for chrome-covered lug nuts, a 7-piece swivel torque impact flex set for tight spaces, and the Apollo handheld diagnostic unit. These innovations address specific technician needs, improve productivity, and contribute to the company's 'pivot to quicker payback items' strategy.

    03

    C&I Segment's Record Performance

The Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment was a standout performer, achieving 11% organic sales growth and a record 16.8% operating margin. This growth was broad-based, with double-digit increases in Asia Pacific, European hand tools, specialty torque, and power tools. The segment benefited from strong demand for custom kits and precision torque solutions in critical industries, demonstrating the successful extension of the Snap-on brand beyond the garage.

    04

    Tools Group Navigating Market Shifts

The Tools Group achieved 3% organic sales growth by successfully pivoting to quicker payback items like power tools and torque wrenches, offsetting softer demand for tool storage. While operating margins were slightly down due to product mix and shared margins with other divisions, the segment's ability to adapt to changing customer preferences and introduce problem-solving tools was highlighted.

    05

RS&I Performance and OEM Dealership Headwinds

The Repair Systems & Information (RS&I) segment saw a slight organic sales increase, driven by strong demand from independent garages for diagnostics and undercar equipment, including the new Apollo unit. However, this was attenuated by decreased activity with OEM dealerships, which are showing hesitancy for capital expenditures due to slowed program launches by automakers. RS&I continues to invest in proprietary data-driven solutions and intelligent diagnostics software.

    06

    Financial Services and Credit Quality

Financial Services revenue and operating earnings saw a slight year-over-year decrease, primarily due to lower interest income from a smaller average finance receivable portfolio. Despite this, the U.S. 60-day plus delinquency rate for extended credit improved to 1.7%, down 10 basis points year-over-year and 20 basis points sequentially. Trailing 12-month net losses also improved sequentially, indicating encouraging portfolio performance.

    07

    Acquisitions and Strategic Investments

The company completed two acquisitions during the quarter: Hi-Force for $54.9 million and Diesel Laptops for $99.1 million. These acquisitions contributed $11.5 million to sales and are expected to enhance offerings, particularly in the heavy-duty vehicle diagnostics arena. Snap-on also continued to invest in personnel and technology, including advancing its proprietary database with large language models, to support future growth opportunities.
