Apple Intelligence and AI Innovation
Apple unveiled Apple Intelligence at WWDC, integrating AI and machine learning across its platforms. This includes Writing Tools, Image Playground, and an enhanced Siri, all built on a foundation of privacy with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute. In Greater China, revenue decreased by 6.5% YoY (less than 3% in constant currency), an improvement from the first half of the fiscal year. iPhone's installed base set a record in Greater China, and iPad returned to growth in the region, with a majority of Mac and iPad customers being new to the product.
Capital Allocation and Financial Position
The company ended the quarter with $153 billion in cash and marketable securities and a net cash position of $52 billion. Apple returned over $32 billion to shareholders, including $3.9 billion in dividends and $26 billion through open market repurchases of 139 million shares. The Board declared a cash dividend of $0.25 per share.
