Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) is a Gujarat-government-promoted chemical manufacturer producing caustic soda, caustic potash, chloromethanes, phosphoric acid, hydrogen peroxide, sodium chlorate, chlorotoluene products and aluminium chloride/poly aluminium chloride from three manufacturing complexes at Vadodara, Dahej-I and Dahej-II in Gujarat. It holds leadership positions in several product lines, ranking as India's largest producer of phosphoric acid and sodium chlorate and the country's sole producer of hydrazine hydrate, with outputs used across textiles, pulp & paper, pharmaceuticals, soaps & detergents, effluent treatment and food-processing industries. The company also holds a majority stake in a joint venture, GACL-NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals (GNAL), which runs a coal-based caustic soda plant with captive power, and has invested in wind and solar assets to supply renewable power to its own plants.
