What Panacea Biotec Limited does
Panacea Biotec is a biotechnology company that researches, manufactures and markets paediatric combination vaccines - its legacy business - alongside pharmaceutical formulations focused on organ transplantation, oncology and diabetes management, plus a newer nutrition and baby-care line. It earns by selling vaccines to government immunisation programmes and UN agencies (UNICEF, PAHO) as well as the private paediatric market in India and abroad, while pharmaceutical formulations are sold domestically (through subsidiary Panacea Biotec Pharma) and exported to regulated markets (US, Canada, Europe) and emerging markets. Manufacturing is backward-integrated from in-house vaccine drug-substance production through to finished-dose vaccines and formulations at its Punjab and Himachal Pradesh facilities. It has more recently expanded into nutrition and hygiene products sold under its own brands through retail and e-commerce.
