What The Andhra Sugars Limited does

The Andhra Sugars Limited runs an integrated chemical complex at Saggonda and Kovvur that produces caustic soda, sulphuric acid, caustic potash and sodium hypochlorite for pharmaceutical, fertilizer, water-treatment and other industrial customers. It also operates a bulk-drug (pharma) business manufacturing Aspirin and various grades of Salicylic Acid and Sodium Salicylate at a cGMP-compliant plant approved by USFDA, EDQM and TGA, serving both export and domestic markets. Its Sugar division crushes cane at the Taduvai unit in Andhra Pradesh (the Tanuku sugar unit was permanently closed and the Bhimadole unit suspended from FY26 due to falling cane availability). Captive coal-based, solar and wind power plants supply energy to the power-intensive chemical operations.
