What Graphite India Limited does

Graphite India manufactures graphite electrodes used as a consumable in electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking, with a focus on higher-margin, large-diameter ultra-high-power (UHP) electrodes. It also produces Calcined Petroleum Coke and Carbon/Electrode Paste (used as electrode-manufacturing inputs and in aluminium smelting) through its Barauni backward-integration plant, impervious graphite equipment for the chemical, pharmaceutical and fertilizer industries, and runs a separate Powmex Steels division making high-speed steel and alloy steel. The company also owns captive renewable power assets (hydro, wind, solar) that reduce its manufacturing power costs, and holds equity stakes in graphene-technology and battery-technology ventures as part of its diversification strategy.
