What IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited does

IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited (ITNL) develops, finances, constructs and operates surface transportation infrastructure under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, earning either fixed annuity payments from the concessioning authority or toll collections from road users (with escalation clauses tied to WPI). It also takes on stand-alone Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contracts and provides operations & maintenance (O&M) services for highways and roads, for both its own and third-party projects. Beyond roads, ITNL has built niche infrastructure such as a rapid metro line, a road tunnel, an automated robotic car park and border check-post systems, and it runs road/highway O&M abroad through subsidiaries Elsamex (Spain, Portugal, Latin America) and IIPL (China, Laos, Vietnam, UAE, Botswana, Ethiopia, USA).
