What Ortel Communications Limited does
Ortel is a regional 'direct-to-consumer' cable television and high-speed broadband provider that owns and operates its own two-way HFC (hybrid fibre-coaxial) network under legally secured rights-of-way, rather than working through third-party local cable operators (LCOs) like most Indian MSOs. It earns from analog and digital Cable TV subscriptions and carriage fees, broadband/FTTH internet subscriptions, and by leasing spare dark fibre infrastructure to telecom players and corporates. It also offers value-added services such as HD TV, near-video-on-demand (NVoD), gaming and signal-uplinking, and has grown its subscriber base both organically and through buyouts of local cable operators' networks and subscribers.
