What Prakash Industries Limited does
Prakash Industries is an integrated steel producer that manufactures sponge iron (DRI), steel billets, ferro alloys and finished long products (wire rods, HB wires, TMT bars) via the coal-based sponge iron route at its Chhattisgarh works. It secures key raw materials captively — iron ore from its own Sirkaguttu mine in Odisha and coal from its own Bhaskarpara mine in Chhattisgarh, besides long-term linkages from Coal India — and generates its own power through a captive plant fuelled partly by waste gases from the sponge iron process and partly via the thermal route. The company also operates a small windmill in Tamil Nadu. It earns revenue by selling sponge iron, billets, ferro alloys and finished steel products such as wire rods, HB wires and TMT bars to industrial and construction end-users.
