What Unichem Laboratories Limited does

Unichem Laboratories Limited is an Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer, incorporated in 1962, that became a subsidiary of Ipca Laboratories Limited. It operates active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) plants at Roha and Kolhapur (Maharashtra) and Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh), and formulation manufacturing facilities at Goa, Ghaziabad, Baddi and Sikkim carrying USFDA, MHRA, ANVISA and TGA approvals. It earns by supplying APIs and formulations to parent Ipca on a contract-manufacturing basis and by selling its own US-market formulations through its wholly-owned US marketing subsidiary, Unichem Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc., which also markets a portfolio of Ipca-origin, US-ANDA-approved generics. The company previously ran a large India branded-formulations business; that domestic footprint has shrunk sharply since the Ipca ownership change, with the business now weighted toward API/formulation supply and export/US generics.
