What Unitech Limited does
Unitech Limited is a real estate and construction company that develops residential and commercial projects, earning through construction/sale of real estate, property management fees, and a small hospitality business. Since January 2020 the company has been run by a Board of Directors appointed by the Central Government on Supreme Court orders, replacing the erstwhile promoter management amid large-scale homebuyer litigation and ED investigations into legacy dealings. The current Board's mandate is centred on completing long-delayed housing projects and resolving the company's finances and litigation rather than fresh business expansion. The company operates through a large group of Indian subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates that hold individual real estate projects.
