What GKB Ophthalmics Ltd. does

GKB Ophthalmics manufactures plastic and glass ophthalmic lenses at its Goa (India) facility, which includes multiple manufacturing units (referenced as Unit I and Unit II) producing lenses used in prescription eyewear. It distributes internationally through wholly-owned and step-down subsidiaries: GKB Ophthalmics Products FZE in Sharjah (UAE), Lensco - The Lens Company in New Jersey (USA), Prescription Optical Products LLC in Dubai (which also handles contact lenses), and a newly incorporated Prime Ophthalmics Products PTY in South Africa set up to serve African demand. A separate subsidiary, GSV Ophthalmics Private Limited, was incorporated to produce Hi-Index ophthalmic lenses, but that project has since become financially unviable. The company faces stiff competition from lower-priced Chinese lens imports into India and is pursuing anti-dumping duty relief with authorities.
