What Godavari Biorefineries Limited does

Godavari Biorefineries operates an integrated biorefinery that crushes sugarcane to produce sugar, ethanol and bagasse-based cogeneration power, and separately processes molasses and sugarcane derivatives into bio-based specialty and non-specialty chemicals (such as ethyl acetate, acetic acid, extra neutral alcohol and acetaldehyde) sold to personal care, cosmetics, food, fragrance, fuel, paints, agrochemical and pharmaceutical customers. It also markets packaged sugar, jaggery, salt and spices under its Jivana consumer brand, sells surplus power to the grid, and pursues early-stage drug-discovery research (including an oncology molecule and an antiviral platform) through in-house R&D and a US subsidiary. The company is building a new grain/maize-based ethanol distillery to add fungible ethanol capacity.
