Balmer Lawrie Investments Ltd. is a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, set up as a special-purpose vehicle whose sole activity is holding a 61.80% equity stake in Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd. (BL), making it BL's holding company. It runs no independent operating business of its own: its income comes from dividends received from BL and interest earned by parking surplus funds in fixed deposits with scheduled commercial banks. Through BL, it is also indirectly linked to BL's own subsidiary, Visakhapatnam Port Logistics Park Limited (VPLPL), which runs port-adjacent logistics infrastructure at Visakhapatnam.
