Star Housing Finance Limited (Star HFL) is a Mumbai-headquartered, BSE-listed housing finance company (HFC) that originates and services retail home loans of up to Rs 25 lakhs for first-time buyers from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) in semi-urban and rural India. It earns interest and fee/commission income on loans for purchase of flats/houses, renovation, extension, balance-transfer of existing home loans, and purchase of plots for house construction, disbursed both on its own books and through co-lending tie-ups (e.g. with Vastu Housing Finance). Lending is funded through borrowings from banks, financial institutions, NHB refinance and NCDs, with the portfolio predominantly retail (individual housing loans) and a small residual wholesale/project-loan book.
