What Hindustan Copper Limited does

Hindustan Copper Limited is India's only vertically integrated producer of refined copper, running the full chain from mining and ore beneficiation through smelting, refining and wire-rod extrusion. It owns and operates all of India's operating copper-ore mining leases, with underground mines and beneficiation plants at Khetri (Rajasthan), Malanjkhand (Madhya Pradesh) and the Indian Copper Complex (Jharkhand), a secondary smelting-refining unit in Gujarat, and a continuous-cast wire-rod plant at Taloja, Maharashtra. It earns primarily by selling copper concentrate to domestic primary copper producers and by tolling wire rod. A large capacity-expansion programme is underway to scale mining output several-fold.
