What Kothari Sugars And Chemicals Limited does
Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited manufactures sugar from crushed sugarcane and its by-products, and co-generates power with an attached distillery. It operates two manufacturing units in Tamil Nadu — at Kattur (Trichy district) and Sathamangalam (Ariyalur district) — sourcing cane from farmers in each unit's own "command area." The distillery converts molasses into alcohol/ethanol, part of which is supplied to Oil Marketing Companies under government ethanol-blending orders, while bagasse from crushing fuels co-generation plants whose surplus power is sold to the state utility (TANGEDCO) under a long-term PPA and to open-access consumers via bilateral agreements/IEX.
