What Modison does
Modison Limited manufactures electrical contact materials and finished contacts — silver, copper-tungsten and copper-chromium alloy based — used inside switchgear for the power, electrical T&D, defence, railways, pharma and glass industries, covering Low, Medium, High and Extra-High Voltage applications under one roof. It also produces precious-metal compounds such as silver nitrate, silver sulphate and silver oxide, and runs a silver/copper refining operation feeding a B2C bullion and cutlery business under the Pearl, Empire, Italia and Victoria brands. Manufacturing is carried out at two plants — Modison Ltd at Vapi, Gujarat and group company Modison Copper Pvt Ltd at Silvassa — with products exported to customers across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company began in 1975 as a silver-refining unit and commenced electrical-contact manufacturing in 1978.
