RailTel Corporation of India is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, set up to build and monetise a telecom infrastructure network laid along the Indian Railways right-of-way. It operates a pan-India optical-fibre backbone and city access network, Tier-III certified data centres and a MeitY-empanelled cloud platform (RailCloud), earning revenue from leased-line/bandwidth and retail broadband (RailWire) telecom services. It also executes system-integration and ICT projects for Indian Railways, central and state government departments and PSUs, spanning e-office, hospital management systems, video surveillance, train signalling (Kavach) and smart-city work. Major customers include Indian Railways, central/state governments, PSUs, banks and telecom/OTT companies.
