What Reliance Power Limited does

Reliance Power is an independent power producer that owns and operates thermal, solar and wind generation assets, selling electricity to state discoms and utilities under long-term power purchase agreements. Its core plants are the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project in Madhya Pradesh, run on cost-plus 'case-1' bidding backed by captive coal mines, and the Rosa Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh, which operates on a cost-plus tariff with an assured regulated return on equity. Beyond legacy thermal and solar/wind assets, the group is building a separate renewable and battery-storage development platform, Reliance NU Energies, to bid for and construct new solar, hybrid-storage and hydro capacity. It also holds a minority stake in a gas-based combined-cycle power project in Bangladesh and coal mining subsidiaries in Indonesia that are being divested.
