What Alembic does
Alembic Limited operates two reportable business segments: a Bulk Drugs (API) manufacturing business and a Real Estate business. The real estate arm develops premium gated-community and villa residential projects and commercial leasing space concentrated in Vadodara, Gujarat, including through its wholly owned (and now material) subsidiary Alembic City Limited. The API business manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients on a job-work and proprietary-molecule basis, running its utility infrastructure partly on a captive gas engine. The company also operates the Alembic City campus and Alembic Art District, a mixed-use cultural and commercial precinct in Vadodara.
