What IDBI Bank does
IDBI Bank Limited is an Indian scheduled commercial bank that lends and takes deposits across three broad lines: retail banking (structured retail advances such as housing loans, gold loans, loan against property, agri loans, auto loans, education loans and personal loans, plus MSME and bulk/centralised retail business), corporate/wholesale banking (large-corporate and mid-corporate advances), and treasury operations (a government-securities and non-SLR investment book held across HTM, AFS and trading/HFT categories, including overseas investments). It earns primarily from net interest income on its loan and deposit book and from its treasury investment portfolio, supplemented by fee-based and other income. The Bank also runs a financial-inclusion and digital-banking franchise built on Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts, an individual Business Correspondent (BC) network, and internet banking, mobile banking and UPI channels. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is among its major institutional shareholders.
