Lloyds Metals And Energy Limited Q1 FY27
What went well
- Consolidated revenue of ₹7,354 crores, more than tripling year-on-year, indicating strong growth momentum.
- Stand-alone EBITDA margin reached a record 39.2%, expanding by 639 basis points year-on-year and 631 basis points quarter-on-quarter, driven by value-added products and cost efficiencies.
- The second pellet plant, commissioned in May 2026, achieved 100% capacity utilization within just 4 months, contributing to 1.69 million tons of pellet production.
What to watch
- Thriveni's margins were marginally impacted by higher fuel costs due to the Gulf crisis, though management is pursuing pass-through to clients.
- A ₹300 crore NTPC wage receivable remains subjudice, with no provision made, although management is confident of resolution within 2-3 months.
What Lloyds Metals And Energy Limited does
Lloyds Metals and Energy is Maharashtra's only iron ore miner, operating the captive Surjagarh mine and integrating forward into pelletisation, direct-reduced iron (DRI/sponge iron) and, under construction, wire-rod steel manufacturing at its Chandrapur-Gadchiroli (Vidarbha) hub. It earns by selling iron ore, pellets and DRI/sponge iron to domestic steelmakers, and has begun diversifying into copper-cobalt (via a DRC copper-cathode plant and a stake in Chemaf Group) and into a mine-developer-and-operator (MDO) business, through subsidiary Thriveni Earthmovers and Infra, that runs coal, iron ore, manganese, gold and barytes mines for other owners in India and overseas.
