What IFCI Limited does
IFCI Limited is a Government of India Undertaking that has operated as a development financial institution since 1948, later incorporated as a public limited company in 1993. It historically extended term loans and financial assistance for industrial and infrastructure development, but in FY 2024-25 it sanctioned and disbursed no new loans, earning instead by managing its existing loan and investment book and pursuing recovery from non-performing assets and security receipts. IFCI also promotes and holds stakes in group entities engaged in venture capital and infrastructure advisory, and supports allied institutions in management and entrepreneurship education.
