What Indian Bank does
Indian Bank is a government-majority public-sector bank incorporated on 5 March 1907 and headquartered in Chennai. It takes deposits and lends across retail, agriculture, MSME and corporate segments through a nationwide branch network, earning mainly from the spread between interest on advances and investments and interest paid on deposits, supplemented by fee, forex and PSLC-commission income. It also runs a domestic treasury/investment book and overseas branches, and serves customers digitally via its IndSMART mobile app and a Business Correspondent network. It became one of India's larger public-sector banks after the 2019 amalgamation of Allahabad Bank.
