What Muthoot Microfin Limited does

Muthoot Microfin Limited is a non-banking finance company categorized as a microfinance institution (NBFC-MFI), part of the Muthoot Pappachan Group conglomerate. It lends primarily to women from low-income rural households through the Joint Liability Group (JLG) model, where small groups of women co-guarantee each other's collateral-free loans, and has since expanded into non-JLG products including individual loans, gold loans, micro-LAP and small enterprise loans. It earns interest income on its on-lent microfinance loan portfolio, sourced and serviced through its own branch network of loan officers and relationship officers across rural India.
