LIC Housing Finance is a housing finance company promoted by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), which holds a majority stake, incorporated in 1989 and registered with the National Housing Bank. It originates and services individual home loans and non-housing individual loans (such as loans against property) for salaried and self-employed borrowers, and non-housing corporate loans (project loans) to developers, earning interest income on the resulting loan portfolio. The company distributes its products through its own network of regional, back, cluster, area and marketing offices, LIC's tied agents (Home Loan Agents), direct sales agents, customer relations associates and a captive direct-marketing channel, supplemented by branches of its wholly owned subsidiary LIC HFL Financial Services and a representative office in Dubai serving NRIs.
